Lithuania game confirmed for Kaunas

The Scottish Football Association has confirmed the Lithuania V Scotland game will be played in Kaunas.  The game will be played in the S. Dariaus ir S. Gireno Stadium on Friday 3rd September 2010.  Kick off time has still to be confirmed, but will be in the evening.

Scotland have played twice in that ground.  In 2003 they lost 1-0 and in 2007 won 2-1.   the game in 2003 was recently voted the second coldest Scotland game - the coldest game was voted as the previous days Under 21 game in Vilnius.

The stadium is rather small, with a capacity of 9,180.  Normally visiting fans would only be eligible for 918 seats but the SFA have managed to negotiate 2,800 tickets.  It's likely that anybody on more than 1 point will be eligible for a ticket.

The SFA have also pointed out that unauthorised agencies have been offering tickets to the match as part of travel packages.  The SFA and Lithuanian football federation cannot guarantee this allocation.

Sweden v Scotland tickets now available to all SSC members

The SFA has announced that all members of the SSC can now apply for tickets to the Sweden V Scotland match on Wednesday 11th August.   Previously only those on 3 or more points were eligible, but only 1,500 tickets were requested.  1,500 tickets are therefore available to those on 0 to 4 points.

Tickets will cost £20.  Applications close at 5pm on Tuesday 6th July.

It's been rumoured the SSC may make all members pick up their tickets in Sweden to prevent point "harvesting".

Sweden V Scotland match – venue announced

sweden-flagThe venue has been announced for the forthcoming Sweden V Scotland International Challenge match on the 11th August 2010.

The match will be held in the Råsunda National Stadium in Solna, on the outskirts of Stockholm (map). It's hosted about 75% of Sweden's international games and is hime to the AIK football team.  The stadium was built in 1937 and will be replaced in 2011 by a new stadium next door.

The stadium has a capacity of 35,000 so we shouldn't have any issues securing tickets.  The SSC have asked fans to register their interest in going to the match - you can do so by logging in to the SSC website (poll here).
