TICKET INFORMATION FOR MACEDONIA AND ICELAND

Thursday, 24 Jul 2008

With the crucial World Cup 2010 qualifying campaign just a few short months away, the Scottish FA has today released details on how Scotland Supporters Club members can get their hands on tickets for the matches in Macedonia and Iceland.

A new way of communicating eligibility for match tickets was trialled for the recent match against the Czech Republic. The aim was to make sure that fans were contacted earlier about their entitlement to a ticket and, wherever possible, making better use of electronic communications to speed up the process.

The feedback on this trial has been overwhelmingly positive and, as such, this system will be used for the matches against Macedonia and Iceland.

The details:

• All Scotland Supporters Club members who have 5 points or more will be automatically entitled to a ticket. We will be contacting these members shortly – with the deadline for applying for a ticket being August 8.
• At the same time, all members on 4 points will be contacted asking them if they wish to be included in a ballot for the remaining balance of tickets. This ballot would take place on or around August 11th.
• Should there be any tickets left at this stage, a ballot of members on 3 points will be conducted.

Scottish FA Marketing Manager Colin Banks said:

“The Tartan Army is famed across the globe for the passionate backing they give their team and for the huge number of fans who travel with Scotland to matches in Europe and beyond.

“We want to make sure that the people who give so much of their time and money to the Scotland cause are rewarded with tickets for the matches. In the case of Macedonia and Iceland, the size of the stadiums means that this might not be possible. We have negotiated an increase in the size of our allocations for both matches – but we will still only have around 1000 tickets available.

“We would love to give a ticket to everyone who wanted one. Due to the size of our allocation we can’t do this. The fair thing to do is to speak to members early and to make it absolutely clear how the tickets are being allocated. The way that we are now communicating with members means that everyone should be left in no doubt as to their own eligibility for a ticket.”
