Police to stop buses heading to the Scotland V Macedonia game

Scotland Police forces will launch another alcohol crackdown on buses and trains heading to Glasgow this weekend. Any person found in possession of alcohol may be charged. Police launched a similar tactic last year where buses were stopped at various sites across Scotland. No reporters were ever found on any alcohol being found or any prosecutions made.

Police will also have "dipsticks" to test if any soft drinks contain alcohol.

Under current laws the bus company, driver and bus convenor can be fined up £1,000 each if drink is found on a bus heading to a football match.

The previously the crackdown was requested by Kenny MacKaskill MSP, Scottish cabinet secretary for Justice. Many will find this rather hypocritical. In 1999 MacKaskill was detained in London prior to the England V Scotland Euro 2000 play-off on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly.

SFA Launch Saltire Saturday

sfa-logoThe SFA have lunched what they're calling "Saltire Saturday" - with the aim of having everyone waving a Saltire flag at the forthcoming Scotland V Macedonia game.

When traveling abroad it's often noticable that the home support all seem to be waving the same flag, wearing the same colours - which is an amazing sight to see.  The SFA seem to be trying to replicate this.

More information Saltire Saturday is available on the SFA website.
