Japan V Scotland finally confirmed

The SFA have finally announced the venue for the Japan v Scotland friendly in October.  There had been fears that the game was going to be cancelled, or held somewhere in Europe.  Fans had even threatened to sue the SFA should the game not go ahead in Japan.

Japan V Scotland Confirmed – kind of

An email just in from the SFA still asks fans not to book any travel until Japan confirm the venue.

I'm starting to think that the game may not be played in Japan!

Dear Supporters Club Members,

As you know, we recently announced that we are playing a friendly in Japan in October this year. At the time we announced the match, we gave an undertaking to let you know the venue as soon as we could.

I know how important it is for you to get this information quickly - as I realise the travel costs involved in getting around Japan mean that flying into the right city is absolutely paramount.

We recently met with a delegation from the Japanese FA to discuss the match. I am afraid that they made it clear that, due to a variety of factors, they are not in a position to confirm the venue yet and, indeed, that it may be next month before they have this sorted out.

I can give you my commitment today that as soon as we have this information from the Japanese FA we will get it out to you. In the meantime, I strongly urge you not to book any flights.

I know that this may be an inconvenience to the many loyal supporters who are in the fortunate position of being able to travel to Japan to follow the team. We will continue to press for this information and will be in touch as soon as we know.

My thanks to you all for your patience and for your incredible support for Scotland.

Japan game not 100% Guaranteed

News has surfaced today that the Japan V Scotland match currently scheduled for the 10th October is not 100% confirmed that it will go ahead.

It appears that should Japan face a playoff for the World Cup 2010 qualifiers they'll be forced to play the first play-off on the 10th October. Japan need to secure an additonal 3 points in order to qualify, or they face a playoff.

More news as it develops.
