Subside Sports have launched a special version of the Scotland Home Football strip with £5 from every strip going towards the Scottish Poppy appeal.
The top appears normal, but has a Scottish Poppy (different from an English poppy) on the right hand side, with an additional saltire under the SFA logo with the words “Serving their country: The British Forces & Scotland National Team”
It seems odd they’ve released this top considering we’re 7 months away from the main Poppy Appeal. Is this a blatant way to tap in to the “British Forces” feel good factor?
They also don’t appear to have done their market research properly. Most Scotland fans wouldn’t be seen dead with anything to do with “British” on their Scotland Top.
It’s unclear if this is endorsed by the Scottish Football Association.
Jimmy from Coatbridge commented “I wholeheartedly support the campaign and was going to buy a top. Then I noticed the detail on the patch. It’s just not right having the word British on a Scotland top”.
John, current serving with her majesties forces in Iraq said “they should have just stuck the poppy logo on the shirt – it’s a well recognised symbol”

The SFA have launched an “Official Netherlands V Scotland Grey Polo Shirt” for the bargain price of £14.99 + £4.95 p&p. This sounds like a normal kind of price for an embroidered polo shirt, but take a look.

This is nothing more than a grey polo shirt (£3) with what the SFA calls an “Official Match Stamp”. What’s an official match stamp?
A comment on the Tartan Army Message board reads -
"Not so much bothered about the cost, but the complete lack of design suggests somebody thought about at tea break this morning."
Don't the SFA know there's a credit crunch?
If you realy want to buy one you can but it from the Official Scotland Shop here

The first pictures of the new Scotland away football shirt were released earlier today. As mentioned previously the first outing will be against the Netherlands on the 28th March.
The shirt has had mixed reviews from the Tartan Army. Some have complained the shirt lacks imagination and is very plain, some have said it looks just like a normal SFA polo shirt.
"Why do we need another new shirt half way through a campaign? I already have a very similar SFA training top which was purchased for a fraction of the price of this one. It's a shame the SFA haven't learnt from the disasterous attempt to bring in the maroon 3rd kit midway through the last campaign." said one TA Footsoldier.
"I dina like it. It's a disgrace we're not wearing navy blue in Amsterdam just to try n boost sales" was another.
"I think the new strip is ok, it seems odd that it has come out half way through a campaign and at least it's not maroon!!"
A poll on the Tartan Army Message Board is currently 52% will buy it, 48% won’t.
Although this top has been labelled an “away” top, it is in fact an “alternative top”. Traditionally Scotland play in Blue unless the blue clashes with the other team. In this case the Netherlands will be playing in orange – which doesn’t clash with the blue Scotland top. The SFA have already said Scotland will play in the white top, obviously to boost sales of the new shirt.
It‘s also been pointed out that this top has been released early. In the past the new shirts have been released on a 2 year cycle – home top one year, away top the next. The top have normally been released in August ready for that season. The SFA seem to be cashing in on the build up to the Netherlands game were an estimated 12,000 people will travel.
The shirt, expected to be available from the 10th March will retail around £39.99 for Adults (including Ladies top), £42 for a long sleeve, juniors shirt £29.99 and £35 for infants.
Shirt
The new away shirt is white, with a blue v-neck line and blue stripes running over the shoulder down to the waist. The traditional SFA logo is on the chest and the Diadora logo on each sleeve. The white on the body has "pin stripes" running down it very reminiscent of the Scotland Home top from 2002.
Shorts
The short are dark blue with light blue edging. Small SFA logo on the left leg.
Socks
White socks with a light blus squiggly running down them. Dark blue top to them.

Acording to a recent email from TACC (Tartan Army Childrens Charity) there will be a new Scotland Away Football top for our match against the Netherlands on March 31st 2008.
3rd Prizes x 5 - The new Scotland away top, as worn by the team in Holland
No Pictures have surfaced as yet of the new top, and no other mention has been made of a new top coming out.
Hopefully there won't be a repeat of the maroon shirt disaster when we lost against Georgia away.
A new top at this stage is nothing more than a money making exercise dor Diadora.
