The Fans Embassy will take place from 7-9pm on Thursday and 1-3pm Friday in Miesto Sodas, on the main strip of Kaunas (where all the boozers and the row of trees are) on Laisves Aleja.
The Fans Embassy is run by fans, for fans and is an info exchange point. If the guys at the fans embassy dont have the answer to your question, they will certainly be able to get a hold of the person who does know the answer.
Just as important in passing out info is the Tartan Army passing along info so if you have anything that the rest of the troups should know about, pop along. Fans Embassy is a confidential service, we wont pass on any personal details unless you want us to on your behalf.
If you are kicking about, why not just pop in and say hi.
The restaurant has top food and its a nice open beer drinking venue as well.
The SFA will be popping along on the Thursday night as well.

Recently we were hearing that some Tartan Army Clubs were having difficulties setting up and maintaining a club website. Over the years we've noticed many websites start and quickly fall out of date and then die. There are 99 TA Clubs on Tartan Army dot Net - but 33 of these websites have disappeared in the last 2 years.
With this in mind we have set up a sample website that doesn't need much updating and doesn't cost much to run, once set up - Sample Tartan Army - http://sample.tartanarmy.net/
The website "System"
The website uses a system called WordPress. Its an easy to use system that works through your browser (internet explorer, Firefox etc) - it works quite like a simple word processor.
Sample Tartan Army was set up in a way that won't require regular updating. It's also possible to change it so you can post updates easily. The latest news appears on the front page below the "about" information.
The Costs
Unfortunately nothing is free in this life. The prices below reflect a fair representation of the time and costs involved in setting up a website. Sample Tartan Army took about 5 hours from start to finish. You may be able to find cheaper places to host your website, but may face extra unseen costs or be plagued by banner advertising, pop ups etc.
Web Address / Domain Name
Each website needs an address. A website needs at least one address, or it can have many addresses. Choose at least one of the following.
- <ta-name>.tartanarmy.net - £5 per year
- <ta-name>.co.uk - £20 for 2 years
- <ta-name>.org.uk - £20 for 2 years
- <ta-name>.com - £20 per year
- <ta-name>.org - £20 per year
Hosting
Each website needs somewhere to sit. This is knows as Web Hosting. Our hosting is based in London's Docklands and is currently running 99.99% of the time. We supply 40mb of storage and 1gb of bandwidth a month. This is more than adequate for a website such as Sample Tartan Army. We recomend Flickr for hosting photographs and Youtube for videos. This helps to keep costs down.
- Hosting per year - £40 (40mb storage + 1gb bandwidth per month)
- Extra storage and bandwidth available if required at extra cost
Email Addresses
Each website comes with one email address. This can be set up an actual email account or it can be forwarded on to an existing account elsewhere (such as Gmail). The default email account has 20mb of storage space
- Additional email accounts - £5 per year (20mb of storage)
New pages / Editing of existing web pages
- Per additional new page - £10
- Per small updated to a page - £5
Anything not covered above?
If you wish to design your own website we can still help. For a price please use the Contact Tartan Army dot Net page
I'm interested - what next?
If you're interested please contact us through the Contacts page. Let us know what kind of thing you'd like and we'll give you a price. If you’d like to go ahead payment would be by Paypal or Bank Transfer.
Notes
- You will need to write the content for your website - we can then edit it and place it on the website
- You're choice of domain name may have already been taken and you may need to make a new choice
- Payment terms 30 days
- For new sites, payment will be required in advance
- If invoices are not paid, the website will be removed or redirected
- No hosting of movies, MP3 files or similar
- No pornographic images etc
- Nothing illegal may be hosted on the website
